BAMBER BRIDGE boss Joey Collins has moved to strengthen his squad with a double loan signing.

Defender Matty Thomson and central midfielder Louis Hayes have arrived in Lancashire from National League North side Chester.

Thomson is a Chester Academy graduate and part of the under-18's squad that reached the third-round proper of the FA Youth Cup in 2016/2017.

He made his senior debut in April 2018 and signed his first professional deal at the Deva in June 2018.

The right back made 16 appearances in all competitions last term before signing a one-year extension with Chester in the summer.

Hayes is also an academy graduate, signing a one-year deal with Chester after impressing through the Blues scholarship programme.

A physical central midfielder from Halewood, he joined the club from Blackburn Rovers in May 2017.

Commenting on the signings, Bamber Bridge manager Joey Collins told the club's official website: "We're really looking forward to welcoming Matty and Louis to the club and getting them involved with the squad.

"They are both held in high regard by all the Chester staff and have bright futures ahead of them."

The club will be hoping that they make a similar positive impact as earlier loan signing Michael Fowler.

Fowler was named as manager's played of the month for September.

The young centre forward, currently at the club on loan from Fleetwood Town has scooped the manager's played of the month award in his first month at Irongate.

Fowler was presented with his award, a case of beer from the award sponsors, Bowland Brewery, before the recent 2-2 draw with Nantwich Town.
