The City of Preston 10K returns this year on Sunday 29th September after a successful relaunch in 2018, which saw over 1,600 runners run through the heart of Preston.

For 2019, the streets of Preston will welcome runners and spectators to the popular route. Starting in Market Street, runners will pass through beautiful scenery via Avenham Park and around the River Ribble, before finishing back on Market Street, to cheering friends and family. The final mile of the race will be named Mo's Mile, dedicated to Mo Done, the inspiration behind The Running Bee Foundation.

During the race, runners will receive official chip timing, water at the middle and end of the run, route markers at every 1km and cheering zones along the route. All who complete the race will receive a commemorative City of Preston 10k medal and technical t-shirt. Spectators can take their time in the Athlete Village and enjoy the entertainment, whilst waiting for loved ones to cross the finish line.

All profits from the event will be donated to communities in Preston by The Running Bee Foundation to help create and improve health and wellbeing initiatives in the area.

Stephen Owen, Foundation Operations Manager commented: "We are looking forward to welcoming the people of Preston and beyond to this year's 10k! This race is becoming very popular and it was great to receive lots of positive feedback from last year's run. I hope to see lots of new faces this year and I encourage anyone who is thinking of running to sign up to this fun and friendly event!"

The Family Fun Run will also be available on the day to runners of all ages and abilities. The run will be a 3km route that will begin after the 10k is complete. Entry to The Family Fun Run is £5 and all taking part will receive a commemorative medal.

UCLan (The University of Central Lancashire) is the leading sponsor of the event and an advocate of promoting an active and healthy community. Various departments of the university including the Confucius Institute will be on-site to support the event on the day. In addition, PAR Group and JD Gyms Preston remain official partners after supporting the 2018 race and will be there to cheer runners on at the 10k. Race HQ and official bag drop will be based at JD Gyms Preston on the day.

The Running Bee Foundation was founded and is supported by Sports Tours International. The Foundation will provide grants from the profits raised from all its UK races to give to community initiatives across Manchester and the North West and help to promote health and wellbeing and the fight to tackle and reduce childhood obesity.
