CHORLEY manager Jamie Vermiglio says his side are ready for the run-in to the end of the season as they look to maintain their promotion push.

A run of six wins out of seven post-Christmas has seen his side cement their position at the top of the Vanarama National League North.

And the Magpies have already scored five more goals than last season’s league total of 52 this campaign.

Vermiglio told the club’s official website that his side have used a break in fixtures forced by the weather to rest up.

He said: “We’ll be refreshed and ready to tackle the final 15 games. We’re confident coming off the back of scoring four at York City, there’s 45 points to play for and we, as always, are aiming to win them all.”

Meanwhile, Adam Blakeman has followed Matt Urwin in pledging his future to The Magpies by signing a new deal until the end of the 2019/20.

Enjoying his third season at Victory Park, the former Southport full back has scored 10 times in 31 appearances so far this campaign.

He told the club’s website: “I’m delighted to sign on for another year. Chorley’s a great club to play for and I’ve really enjoyed my football the last few years.

“We’ve got a fantastic group of lads who put in a shift for each other week in, week out.

“Vermo’s been brilliant with me since I’ve been at Chorley, so it was an easy decision for me to make. I’m looking forward to the rest of the season now and seeing where it takes us.”

The manager said he was delighted with the player’s decision. He said: “He’s a very important part of our team and someone who is well respected in the dressing room.

“There’s no question he’s one of the most technically gifted players at the Club and one we are lucky to have signed on for another year.”

The news follows the permanent capture of first choice ‘keeper Matt Urwin through to the end of the 2019/20 season.

An agreement has been reached with Fleetwood Town over the signing of the 25-year-old stopper, who’s made 80 appearances for The Magpies over 18 months and two loan spells.

Urwin told the website: “I have never played with a better group of lads or enjoyed my football this much so it was an absolute no-brainer to sign permanently.

“Fleetwood gave me a chance coming back from non-league and I’ll always be thankful to them for that, it just didn’t quite work out the way I wanted.

“Now I’m looking forward to the rest of the season and beyond. I think it would be a fantastic achievement to win this league and we just have to remain confident, keep doing what we’re doing and hopefully come the end of the season that will be enough.”
