More homes for village

PLANS have been submitted for a development of almost 150 new homes on land off Preston Road in Grimsargh.

If it gets the green light it will be the latest in a series of housing developments in the village.

Story Homes is seeking reserved matters planning for 147 homes on the site. It says the proposals "would create a sustainable development that would make an important contribution to the city's housing supply."

In a statement it said: "The development will provide a range of much needed high quality and high specification apartments, terraced, semi-detached and detached family homes, and will include 35 per cent affordable homes.

"The development will consist of one, two, three, four and five-bedroom homes. The plans also include large areas of open space with dedicated play equipment which would be enjoyed by the whole community."

The site was granted outline planning permission for up to 150 dwellings in May 2016. The reserved matters scheme submitted by Story Homes seeks to agree the detailed design of the scheme.

As part of the development, Story Homes will contribute around £290,000 towards education and a travel plan as well as an onsite play area.

The scheme will also generate a Community Infrastructure Levy payment of around £970,000 which the council can use to fund infrastructure projects which support local communities.

A decision on the application is expected in spring next year. Story Homes has two developments in Preston, with houses currently on sale at D'Urton Manor and Waterside in Cottam.
