Due to extreme weather conditions on Sunday 29th September, race organisers were forced to cancel the City of Preston 10k, putting the safety and enjoyment of the runners first. The Running Bee Foundation has now announced the race will go ahead on Sunday 20th October at 10:00am and is looking forward to welcoming runners back to the heart of Preston.

ALL entries from the original race will be honoured and more places will be made available for additional runners to purchase via The Running Bee Foundation website https://www.runningbeefoundation.co.uk/. Runners who are unable to run on the new date will be entitled to a full refund or have the option to defer their entry to next year's event or donate their entry fee to The Running Bee Foundation. Please contact Race Director, Graham Jackson graham@sportstoursinternational.co.uk for more information.

Starting in Market Street, runners will pass through beautiful scenery via Avenham Park and around the River Ribble, before finishing back on Market Street, to cheering friends and family. The final mile of the race will be named Mo's Mile, dedicated to Mo Done, the inspiration behind The Running Bee Foundation.

During the race, runners will receive official chip timing, water at the middle and end of the run, route markers at every 1km and cheering zones along the route. All who complete the race will receive a commemorative City of Preston 10k medal and technical t-shirt. Spectators can spend time in the Athlete Village and enjoy the entertainment, whilst waiting for loved ones to cross the finish line.

All profits from all entries will be donated to communities in Preston by The Running Bee Foundation to help create and improve health and wellbeing initiatives in the area. For more information on how to apply for a grant please visit https://www.runningbeefoundation.co.uk/.

Stephen Owen, Foundation Operations Manager commented: "unfortunately we had no option but to cancel Sunday's race. The route in parts was ankle deep with water despite our efforts during the night before and early hours to clear the course, the weather beat us. I would like to personally thank all the runners, staff and volunteers for supporting our decision and we hope to welcome all the runners back on Sunday 20th October for a bigger and better event!"

The Family Fun Run will also be available on the day to runners of all ages and abilities. The run will be a 3km route that will begin after the 10k is complete. Entry to The Family Fun Run is £5 and all taking part will receive a commemorative medal.

UCLan (The University of Central Lancashire) is the leading sponsor of the event and an advocate of promoting an active and healthy community. Various departments of the university including the Confucius Institute will be on site to support the event on the day. In addition, PAR Group and JD Gyms Preston remain official partners after supporting the 2018 race, and will be there to cheer runners on at the 10k. Race HQ and official bag drop will be based at JD Gyms Preston on the day.

The Running Bee Foundation was founded and is supported by Sports Tours International. The Foundation will provide grants from the profits raised from all its UK races to give to community initiatives across Manchester and the North West, and help to promote health and wellbeing and the fight to tackle and reduce childhood obesity.
